UNESCO world heritage sites in India

The United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) World Heritage Sites. These are important places of cultural or natural heritage as described in the UNESCO World Heritage Convention, established in 1972. Its headquarter is in Paris, France.
There were 38 World Heritage Sites located in India. These include 30 cultural sites, 7 natural sites and 1 mixed-criteria site. India has the sixth largest number of sites in the world.

44th session of the World Heritage Committee of UNESCO has given India a new world heritage site in the form of the Kakatiya Rudreshwara (Ramappa) Temple in Telangana, which dates back to the 13th century.


In 2021 following two new world heritage site has been added to the world heritage site.

1 . Dholavira: a Harappan City (2021)
2. Kakatiya Rudreshwara (Ramappa) Temple, Telangana (2021)

Now, there are 40 World Heritage Sites located in India. These include 32 cultural sites, 7 natural sites and 1 mixed-criteria site. India has the sixth largest number of sites in the world.
